It would be very useful for YPN to develop a side by side comparison chart showing what we have now vs what is proposed in the Healthcare bill, including tort corcerns.

My choice would depend upon my being better informed about the contents of the bill. Currently there is insufficent information to make a reasoned decision.

If the Government stopped allowing free care given to Immigrants and people who have no health insurance then they would get paid. Besides, private hospitals and doctors always reserve the right to make you pay up front or provide insurance so they do get paid! It's the public hospitals that put up the bill and they only do that because they are required by law to provide care. If you want people to be responible for their own actions, (Those who think they don't need insurance), then the government needs to let hospitals refuse care unless its paid for. Its as simple as that.

The new revenues are only from taxes on high earners. So no, unless you're a young profession that makes more than $200k, then your tax burden will NOT go up. And if you ARE a YP that makes over $200k, then a) how the hell are you making $200k in this recession because I'd love to know, and b) the extra tax is tiny and with that income will be something that you can easily afford.

Well then you understand it wrong. I don't blame you, because the article you refer to mentioned the new taxes, but doesn't say who will be subject to them. By not mentioning it, the article implies that everyone will be. That's the mistake you made. But it's wrong.
"The new tax would apply to income from interest, dividends, annuities, royalties, capital gains and rents for individuals who earn more than $200,000 annually and joint filers reporting more than $250,000, according to the legislation.
That's from Bloomberg. Here's the link: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aV5.Wl.kCJNo&pos=9
"The bill also increases the individual’s share of Medicare tax currently imposed on salaries starting at $200,000 for individuals and $250,000 for couples to 2.35 percent, from 1.45 percent currently."
And that's from Business Week. Here's the link: http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-03-22/new-taxes-for-health-care-help-obama-spread-the-wealth-around-.html
So we've got a situation where the taxes are only on high earners, and yet right-wing organizations like the WSJ continue to perpetuate the misinformation that everyone will be subject to these taxes. It's not hard to imagine that many of the opponents of health care reform would actually support the legislation if they hadn't been massively misinformed about the basics of the legislation.

Healthcare

Great Idea!
Thanks for the suggestion! This would be useful, especially in light of the recent court decision and the GOP's brazen attack against it.
insurance

Doctor's POV
You need health insurance, otherwise Docs and hospitals usually don't get paid. This is why hospitals close. If those disappear where are people then?
If the Government stopped

ONLY IF...
I will purchase health care only if my options are good. Can't wait to see how this bill pans out.
Taxes
You're going to pay more taxes, that's how it'll pan out. Pile it on DC, just keep piling it on.

Don't have to make 200k
Tax increases will hit nearly everyone, as I understand it:
2013
Taxes and fees
■Tax on wages rises to 2.35% from 1.45%.
■New 3.8% tax on unearned income such as dividends and interest.
